Summer Series 7 & 8

For this Saturday’s summer series race 7 & 8 to go ahead we need a patrol boat crew. If you are trained up as a patrol boat crew, then please volunteer via Dutyman. There still are gaps in duties for the majority of the events in September so please have a look in Dutyman otherwise more events will have to be cancelled.

Waiting for the Tide

From a recent Tweet by LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES:

We’re working with Hampshire & IoW Wildlife Trust to observe recreational activities in the Solent. It will help us understand the relationship between these activities and seagrass. If you live locally and want to help, contact us here https://saveourseabed.co.uk/the-project/contact/. Not necessarily the most useful link as it is just the generic contact page, but their website may be of interest, along with the section on recreational boating.

Seagrass is one of their key interests, and something I remember stretching from the Tudor moorings to the shore on both sides when I was younger (and when the clubhouse was by the Eastern Road bridge). It helps us a recreational users by keeping the mudflats secure, provides habitat for young fish and other wildlife, the mudflats it helps are extremely efficient carbon sinks and it helps the water quality – what’s not to like! Oh, it is also the only known flowering sea plant!

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address, it is always nice to hear from members. Any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Let’s be careful out there.

Maintenance Jobs

A new section for the Tidal Diamond where you can check for opportunities to tick off those maintenance hours. Just announcing the feature this week, but watch this space in future Tidal Diamonds. In the mean time see Dutyman for opportunities to help out with the social and sailing events.

Useful Links

I thought it worth continuing to include a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:
